Outfit Post:)

Hi all! Just wanted to share another outfit of the night post. This is an outfit I wore back in the day, way back on November 1, 2011! lol! I rocked this outfit when I went to Jay-Z and Kanye's Watch the Throne tour stop in Baltimore (one of the best live shows I've been to). I must admit, the pumps were not the best shoes to wear to a venue like First Mariner Arena, especially with our high seats and all the dancing we did. Best believe my shoes were off the whole time. There's no way I could have acted a fool all night like I did in those babies! Good times!

New Years Eve OOTN

Hello beautiful people! Just a quick post about what I wore for my last dinner outing of the year at the National Harbor. The weather was quite nice during the day so I thought the evening would be a bit colder but comfortable. I decided to forgo pantyhose, but boy was I freezing by the end of the night! I couldn't even be bothered with taking photos in front of the lovely outdoor Christmas tree. Guess I should've known since we were going to be by the water. Anyway, I had a nice time eating Thai (one of my favorite cuisines) and spending time with friends and family!

Goodbye 2011, welcome 2012!

Well, it's that time of year again. We've reminisced on the the past year and set our resolutions for the new one. Ringing in a new year always feels like a fresh start, a chance to get rid of the old energy and capture a new one. Here are a few tips to  help us get started on the right foot.

1. Don't sweat the small stuff. Many people get upset over the most unnecessary things. Life doesn't always have to be a battle field. Our time here is short, so focus on the good and don't let the little things that annoy you about your job or a loved one get the best of you.

2.Get rid of the negative energy around you. Sometimes we get too comfortable with the situation we're in or the people around us and are afraid to change things or don't know how. Take the time to reflect on what is causing you to feel the need to have such drama in your life. Work on building self-esteem. When you feel better about yourself, it will be easier to clean house and you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner. This can be a little harder in a work or family situation, but if you haven't fully expressed how you feel in a calm and mature manner, now is the time. People respect others that stand up for themselves. If all else fails, avoid the person when you can and keep your eyes and ears open for an opportunity to move on to something better.

3.  Helping others is one of the best feelings, at least for me. Taking time to volunteer at a local animal shelter, soup kitchen, or wherever your heart leads you is a great way to take the focus off of yourself and appreciate the blessings you do have. Donate to your favorite charity or champion a great cause.

4. I'm sure most Americans can agree that one of the greatest sources for stress is money.
We all know that managing our money is so important. Easier said than done, I'm sure. But I'm not saying don't spend your money. Just be smart with it. I like to cash a certain amount of money from each of my paychecks and use it on small purchases. You'll notice that when using cash, you are much more stingy about where and how you spend your money. And like my mom ALWAYS says, shop around and compare prices!! And if you are fortunate enough that you do not have to live paycheck to paycheck, remember to regularly put some money aside for savings.

5. The three P's: patience, procrastination and priorities. Patience is a virtue. I hate seeing people drive irresponsibly, speeding and overtaking other cars  (sometimes even illegally) only to end up stopping at the same light as the other driver! In general, impatience can only lead to trouble or frustration. So take a chill pill. Likewise, knowing how to set your priorities and not putting off the more important things can save you a lot of headache. We only have 24 hours in a day, so manage your time wisely so you don't spend it feeling rushed and frustrated.

6. Have fun! Stress can only get the best of you if you let it. So be in control! Take your mind off of the negative and refocus it on the positive.

If you have any you'd like to add or want to discuss any of these further, please leave a comment!

It's About Time!

Finally! Me being the procrastinator that I am, I have been putting off creating a blog for a while. But with 2012 just a week away, I decided what better time to start something new than now. This blog is an opportunity for me to share my interests in fashion, beauty, and health as it relates to my desire to live a more health and environmentally-conscious life and become the best me that I can be. Here's to letting your light shine!
